Project Angus ( Medical Research)By A P Strachan Introduction to a New Approach Acknowledgements This site has lots of items cut from the Internet, mostly acknowledged, but some are composites from many different sites and have no named site addresses. I hope the site owners will accept this, with my apologies. A few articles were written by myself, as I could not find suitable all-encompassing summaries. Many cancer articles were written by myself on an old computer in 1995 and have been scanned in. Summary The site has lots of medical articles, mostly from the Internet, but I have written many myself, some as summaries of medical articles, and others describing how I have helped people with a variety of medical problems. I have tried to put them in sensible sections but a few files have been duplicated as they can fit into more than one category. The cancer, Aids, arthritis, and general health articles have many of my original ideas, and reflect an engineering style approach to medical problems. I have had to teach myself quite a few different subjects to get this far, and am still learning! Who am I? What have I done? After qualifying in electrical engineering, I worked for over 20 years repairing and troubleshooting computers, in UK and abroad, before part retiring to try inventing and then private medical research. I have no qualifications in medicine, but have studied many subjects, albeit at a superficial level, just to understand how things work. Faced with medical problems or diseases, I applied a simple engineering approach of gathering data then working backwards. This is sometimes called reverse chaining, and yields a vector or vectors pointing to an area of interest. The body is very, very, complicated, and its operation is not understood by anybody. I have therefore used mortality or incidence distribution patterns, and sometimes just asked myself what the common factors were, or what the simplest answer could be, and carried on from there. Some of the results have been amazing, such as curing several people after the doctors had essentially given up, and working out a complete explanation of cancer, possibly aids, general health, and cardiovascular problems, plus ideas for a new class of drugs. At one point, I stumbled on a set of distribution patterns for cancer while looking for proof of one of my ideas about acid/base balance and longevity/health. I knew then that cancer was triggered by trace elements, but it took several years, as a back-burner hobby, to work the rest out for several cancers of the past. I believe that I have worked out the first unified theory of cancer causation, mechanism, and treatment. It may, just may, also apply to Aids. This kind of investigation requires a multi-disciplinary approach, quite a bit of lateral thinking, and lots of reading older books and articles. The standard medical approach is forward chaining, using a thought experiment, then a laboratory investigation, followed perhaps by single parameter clinical trials, usually using animals first. This approach would never have found out what I think I have proved to be the real causes and mechanisms of cancer and aids, nor would it have come up with a good treatment for failing joints, or a new approach to cardiovascular problems. Allopathic medicine is limited, has side effects, and takes little or no account of the mind-body system. All of our cells are equipped to transmit and receive chemical messages, or to put it another way, we have a myriad of small brains and a mass of signalling. In the end, only the mind(s)/body system can effectively cure ailments. This is not to say that conventional western medicine has no place in the pantheon of healing, but it should be integrated with other, more holistic approaches. Against a background of rising ill health, asthma, allergies, behavioural problems, learning difficulties, cancer, and heart problems, a new approach is overdue, and as long as medicine clings to the restricted, forward chaining, single parameter approach, results will not be forthcoming. Over 98% of useable human intelligence lies outwith the medical profession, yet we all fall ill and we all die. It is time we, the "laypeople", had a say in the matter! Marketing I tried to market my findings about 1995, but had no success. Recently, I tried again, but again failed. This is why I am now putting them on the Internet. Arthritis Much came from old books, some from more modern textbooks, and later refinements to diet came from personal tests, internet articles, text books, and media programs. It works! Diets Lots of articles and different points of view. You can take your pick. This saves you lots of time searching on the net. There seem to have been many changes ( or fads if you prefer ) in viewpoints in regard to what is good and what is not. Interesting items deal with acidity, ammonia, food separation, food hygiene ( not what you might think ), vegetables, and use of fruits. There are also sections on fasting, detoxification, hyperactivity, dementia, glycaemic loading, and travel sickness. Nutrition A collection of more technical items, representing a wide range of opinions and findings. Herbs Sites and summaries on use and contents of various herbs. Some items are very technical and possibly for biochemists only. Supplements By this I mean minerals, vitamins, and some others. Much has been cut from internet sites. Cancer and Aids Many articles from books and internet, plus my own researches over a few years. I developed a completely new approach starting from geology and working through to treatments. I refrain from claiming cures, but sometimes I get close to saying that. There have been some working treatments in the past, and any theory has to explain how and why these treatments produced results. My theory does this. There are articles on old treatments and results that make interesting reading! I tried my cancer model on Aids, and decided that it could work if I made one change in the causation mechanism, namely the addition of a virus. I would give the treatment only a long-shot chance of halting the progression of this disease, but it might be worth a try. General Health Lots of hints and tips, mainly diet based, but including use of herbs and supplements plus some tips for using the mind to aid health and healing. Also some writing on protein levels and blood problems. Fats and Oils Information on types and usage. There has been a quiet revolution in supplements, oils, and use of n-3 oils in particular. See items on margarine and polyunsaturated fats. CFS, IBS A dietary and supplement approach to a difficult problem that takes time and patience. Thyroid and Diabetes As a result of an accidental finding while helping someone with joint problems, it turned out that cod oil, taken a certain way, cured problems that had not responded to standard medical treatment for 10 to 15 years! It is my belief that this simple approach could also be of benefit to diabetics, but I would caution anyone to work with their doctor on this, and closely monitor blood sugar levels. It is extremely safe for hypothyroidism, and closed wounds in weeks that had been open for years. Hair and nails started to grow again after years of low activity. Leukaemia I collected items on this after a request from a friend. Colitis As per Leukaemia. This is a large composite file from many sources. I did not, at that time, keep track of sources, hence there are no site addresses.
